Greg,
Claude and Sybil Ebbeck started the purebred herd in 1970. Greg was just 14 years old at the time.
The family has taken the stud to be one of the most renowned purebred Poll Hereford herds in Australia and Internationally with approximately 80 elite cows plus recipients carrying the joining of the Super cows of those elite 80.
For the bulk of that time the herd has been run in the harsh winter country of Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Their new home is "KIA ORA" , Crowther , near Young ,on the South West Slopes of NSW. A picturesque 550 acre property it offers the cattle a warmer climate to grow out in ,with excellent water ,self watering Lucern flats and after an building expansion program over the past 2 years a New Selling Complex and Show Barn.
The Ebbecks have been carefully building their idea of what Poll Hereford cattle should look like. They breed bulls and cows to work in the wider Australian environment, to calve easy, to wean heavy calves and to grow to a moderate mature weight. They have bred in superior udders in their cow herd and are proud to say their females 'Fly the Flag' for the program. They are very critical of feet and legs throughout the herd, allowing their Stud Sire and Commercial bull buyers to purchase with confidence, knowing structural soundness is bred into EBBX cattle.
At EBBX Poll Herefords their cows produce bulls which they market through their 'on property' bull sale in the spring. They sell approximately 40 bulls annually. Their second sale for the year, "The Female and Genetic Sale" is world renown for supplying the industry with cutting edge genetics and individuals, many that have gone on to be breed leaders and household names in the breed over the decades.
